Before we start, let us highlight something: At The Fashion Gazette, we don’t care about designers’ race, color, or ethnicity. We support talents of all sorts – and it’s the fashion talent we truly care about. So keep in mind, we’re just being real and honest here!
To start, a no-bullshit opinion of ours is: NYFW is the first but the least wow of all fashion destinations. And with that in mind, we’re reflecting back on the first day and sharing our thoughts on our top 3 designer picks, as well as 3 that didn’t seem to really get the memo on what fashion is really about.
Read on and you’ll see what we mean.

The Crack: Proenza Schouler
What we have to say: oh-so-sleek! We do appreciate the straight, long silhouettes. There were a lot of beautiful crochets and the flamenco-inspired sleeves definitely caught our attention.

The Crack: Raisa Vanessa
We couldn’t resist making a groove and doing some funky dance moves thanks to this collection of 70s-inspired prints and sparkles – the disco fever was on, baby!

The Crack: Bronx & Banco
Did someone say fringes-maniac? Well, in an admiring way in this case. The collection has gotten this “Amazonian warriors meet holistic Tulum vibe” and the whole time we were just thinking: “Should we book that one-way ticket to Tulum, like right now?”

And now, let’s move on to the confused bunch, shall we?
The Crap: No Sesso
Breaking news: A fashion murder caught in action! Yes, we know cut-out is the current trend but nothing seems to look cohesive here. Did they steal some patchwork from a 9-year-old?
Just see for yourself:

The Crap: Tiffany Brown
Okay, monochrome is cute and all but the designs looked like they were from a few years (or decades?) ago. They appeared old-school and unoriginal. The materials and structuring of the pieces were also poorly done.

The Crap: Tia Adeola
Can someone please “put the stitches away” because man, are they visible! The designs were simply impractical – the pieces were so extremely tight even on the barely-there models. We just don’t see real craftsmanship here!
