When “aging beautifully” is (finally) trending
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Remember back in the day when “anti-aging” was the magical buzzword used to sell every skincare product? When the industry convinced women that “beauty” is associated with youth, that looking younger than your actual age is the way to go? Well, we haven’t completely moved away from that toxic concept yet but there seems to be light in the tunnel.

In the last 30 days, “aging beautifully” has been one of the top search terms on Pinterest, with a 200% increase in growth to be exact. To us, this search trend suggests change is happening; it’s about time people move away from that way of thinking because we are so tired of it already. Being able to grow old is a privilege!

We went and played around with the search term and the results still show content surrounding the idea of “how to look younger.” We even got an ad about a drink that can apparently “slow down your aging process.” It’s like, really guys?

But thankfully we also did see brands promoting self-love, inspiring quotes showing appreciation for different shades of grey, tips on how to age gracefully, etc.

Aging itself is a beautiful process that has not gotten enough credit – we are here to celebrate it and not prevent it. And we are here hoping this will not just be another trend that will soon be replaced by something else. Because for once, this is a “trend” that we are all here for it.

So, what are your thoughts on this?
